Information for Artists - Art Exhibitions

Artists who submit artwork to Still Point Art Gallery should be familiar with the following policies. Also, please be aware that Still Point Art Gallery is exclusively an online gallery.

  1. Submissions for exhibitions received after the posted deadline will not be considered.
  2. In the case of a submission for which the entry form, entry fee, and images are received separately, every attempt will be made to match the items to the correct artist. If it is not possible to match all items to an artist, the artist's images will not be considered and he or she will forfeit the entry fee.
  3. Once the submission deadline has been reached, no image substitutions may be made and no changes in submissions or the price of a work submitted will be permitted.
  4. Only artists 18 years of age or older may submit entries to juried exhibitions.
  5. All art must be the creation of the artist.
  6. No reproductions, including giclees, will be accepted.
  7. The entry fee is non-refundable.
  8. All decisions regarding art selected for exhibitions are final.
  9. For work designated by the artist as "For Sale," the artist grants the Gallery the right to sell the art. A sales commission of 20% will be retained by the Gallery.
  10. All work must remain on exhibit throughout the entire duration of the exhibition. No early withdrawals will be permitted.
  11. The Gallery owner reserves the right to cancel an exhibition, extend deadlines, or change exhibition dates. In the event of an exhibition cancellation, entry fees that have been paid will be refunded.
  12. By submitting work to be considered for the exhibition, artists grant the Gallery the right to use their image(s) for the purpose of marketing.
  13. If a work of art is selected for exhibition, it is expected that the work will remain available for purchase throughout the exhibition. If the artist sells a work of art while it is part of a featured current exhibition, the artist is expected to pay Still Point Art Gallery its 20% commission. At the close of the exhibition, the artist may choose to no longer list the work of art as a sellable item in the "past exhibitions" area of the website.
  14. In the event of a sale, the artist will receive a notification from the Gallery (by email or phone) and will be asked to deliver the piece of art to be purchased to a UPS store or affiliate as soon as possible for packing and shipping to the buyer (a piece should be delivered to UPS within 3 days unless it needs to be framed or otherwise prepared). The buyer pays all packing, shipping, and insurance costs as well as sales tax, if that applies. The piece of art is not shipped until the Gallery receives full payment from the buyer. Buyers have a 10-day return policy, beginning on the day the work of art is received.
  15. In the event of a sale, the artist is paid within 45 days of the shipment of a work of art.

Information for Artists - Art Leasing

Still Point Art Gallery regularly reviews artists' work for our leasing program. If you would like to have your work reviewed, please submit a minimum of eight images that represent your current portfolio of work. For each piece, include title, medium, dimensions, and price. Submit your images on a CD or by email (CDs will not be returned). Please also include a brief biography and artist statement, if you have one.

Here is other information that artists should know about leasing:

  1. Art is generally leased for a period of four months, which constitutes one leasing cycle. At the end of a cycle, the lessee has the option of renewing the lease agreement for another cycle or having the art removed. For special situations or events, art may be leased for shorter lengths of time, but different rates apply. An individual artist may set a limit to the length of time any individual piece may be leased.
  2. The Gallery will generally arrange to pick up art works from the artist and take them to the leasing site. However, if the circumstances (distance, number of pieces) justify a different delivery arrangement, the Gallery will work with the artist to arrange another method of delivering the art to the site.
  3. Unless other arrangements are agreed upon, art that is to be handed over to the Gallery by the artist must be ready to hang. Since “ready to hang” means different things for different pieces of art, the artist and Gallery owner will discuss this before delivery and make expectations clear in the artist’s contract.
  4. The leasing fee is three percent (3%) of the sales price of a piece of art per month. The fee is split 50-50 between the artist and the Gallery. (Please see Leasing Fee Schedule for Artists.)
  5. Art is fully covered for damages and theft by the Gallery’s insurance when art is in the possession of the Gallery. A copy of the Gallery’s insurance policy will be provided to the Artist upon request. Once the art is in the possession of the lessee, the art must be covered for damage and theft by the lessee’s insurance policy, a copy of which must be given to the Gallery as proof of coverage before installation.
  6. A commission of 35% is retained by the Gallery on all sales. The remaining 65% is paid to the artist. Artists are paid their portions within 30 days of receipt of leasing or sales income.
